Looking at early method books like Vahda Ohta Bickford’s Ukulele Method {Bickford, 1920 #185} we can clearly see how adaptation from other instruments, namely the classical guitar, has been happening from the start. As of now, The Guitar Lineage and The Banjo Lineage are documented here. However, more lineages should be documented in the future, doing more in-depth research in Russia on adapted Balalaika techniques and possible influences of Chinese traditional instruments.
