This tremolo technique exists between strumming and picking, as it strums one string at a time. The alzapua (backwards) motion of the thumb occurs in Flamenco technique on the Guitar Lineage, but is a signature technique of the Hawaiian Performative Lineage. Hand position is very fixed with stabilizing R and M respectively. Arm motion moves T across strings.
